Nat Cambridge calls on all entertainers, whether members or non members of the GBEMAA, to come together at Canal House, Pelican Bay Resort on the 17th of November, 2014 to discuss the condition, demise and future revitalization of the entertainment sector of Grand Bahama and to set schedules for future meetings and necessary formalities to the furtherance of the GBEMAA and its stated agenda.

Freeport, The Bahamas - The Grand Bahama Entertainers Musicians and Artists Association will relaunch under the leadership of Nat Cambridge. The group made it's last revival in 2006 when Joe 'Kinky' Fox brought it back to life under his leadership. Fox has long since moved to Nassau and has recently issued a formal letter of resignation.

The following statement is written by Nat Cambridge:

But for a few brave outspoken individuals, the voice of the entertainer in Grand Bahama has been largely silent. In a time when the government of the Bahamas has a stated position of supporting and encouraging the re-development of our island and primarily through tourism initiatives we have yet to see the tangible results of any initiatives. Their effects have not reached the pockets and the quality of lives of the local entertainers.

Among us there are many and varied individuals. Persons engaged in crafts and fields of labor from commercial and industrial workers to office and managerial positions. We have turned to alternative means of employment. Not by choice bu out of a necessity to feed our families. Now we exist in a reality that sees us doing what we must because what we should is not supported or facilitated.

The GBEMAA was founded in 1997 to address the rights and concerns of the Grand Bahamian entertainer. As the V.P. with responsibility for artist development my endevours were, are and continue to be the development of the careers of the Grand Bahamian entertainer. During the past 5 years the GBEMAA has remained inactive due to the absence of a sitting president. I am seeking now to consult with members of the GBEMAA and its now inactive board to determine a path forward to reactivate and revive this association.

I am calling on all entertainers, whether members or non members of the GBEMAA, to come together with me and meet at Canal House, Pelican Bay Resort on the 17th of November, 2014 to discuss the condition, demise and future revitalization of the entertainment sector of Grand Bahama and to set schedules for future meetings and necessary formalities to the furtherance of the GBEMAA and its stated agenda. Please bring your comments, questions and suggestion on how we can move forward toward the goal of securing the place of the entertainer in the Grand Bahamian culture, tourism development and economy. In attendance will be immediate past president, Mr. Joseph “Kinky” Fox, who will bring remarks.

Humbly inviting you,

Nat Cambridge.
