"Joy in Creation" Photography Competition accepting entries until April 27th

Freeport, The Bahamas - The Garden of the Groves and the Grand Bahama Labyrinth are pleased to announce their First Annual Photographic Competition for Young Persons. The contest is set to commence on April 11th at the Garden's big Easter Family Fun Day, SPRING IN THE GARDEN!

This will open at 12 noon when Arts and Crafts stalls will this year, be arrayed all around the Gardens where strolling minstrels will entertain. There will be a big Easter Bunny waiting to be photographed with the little ones; puppies to pet and ponies to ride. A Children's Easter Bonnet & Cap Competition will be held and featured in a Parade on the Labyrinth, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. The Adults will be entertained at the Cafe Deck by a Parade of Easter Fashions by 'Bandolera'. Ralph Munnings with 'Panache' will round off the day by the Garden Cafe at Cocktail Hour.

Junior Photographers are asked to visit the Ticket Booth during this time and register for the Photography Competition by paying $3.00 and having their Entry Form stamped. After the 11th forms will remain available at the park entrance or can be downloaded from www.grandbahamalabyrinth.com (SEE BOTTOM of article).

This Entry Form will have to accompany their entry submission of up to three photos. Entries and must be received by 27th April at the Garden of the Groves.

A special team of Judges will decide on the best photograph in each of three classes: Primary (ages 0-6years); Junior (7-12years); and Senior (13-18years).

This competition is being held to nurture in our young people the wide-eyed wonder of seeing with the eyes, and with the heart, all the beauty of nature.

Photographs must all be taken within the 12 acres of the Garden of the Groves, and will be judged on technical skill and artistic appreciation of the subject 'Joy in Creation'.

The Prizegiving will take place on the Labyrinth on Friday 1st May at 6.00p.m.immediately preceding the ' Elden-McGlone Labyrinth Musical Production celebrating May Day!
