One of the finest places in The Bahamas to commune with nature, the Garden of the Groves, now also houses a beautiful recreation of an ancient sacred path — The Grand Bahama Labyrinth — where visitors of all faiths can walk and reflect on healing, peace, meditation, prayer, our connection to the Divine, and our connection to one another.
This historical monument was founded and created in 2008 by Barbara Chester and the Community of Grand Bahama Island, with the invaluable help and creative guidance of Robert Ferre & Judy Hopen of Labyrinth Enterprises, Limited.

Freeport, Bahamas -
Those who attended Circle
of Life on the Labyrinth at the Garden of the Groves Saturday night
enjoyed a lovely show, possibly the best yet, with some beautiful singing,
dancing, poetry monologues, and a slide show of shelter animals which
was beautifully accompanied by Marjoke Twiest’s rendition of “In
the Arms of the Angels”.
About 100 people were treated
to a first class production with a great deal of professionalism helped
by Darren Rollins working lights, sound and projection.
The weather stayed dry and
the moon peeped out of its eclipse just above the trees, providing a
beautiful backdrop for the end of the show...

Grand Bahama Labyrinth Peace Walk held at the Grand Bahama Labyrinth for Haiti - Jan 26, 2010 - 1:14:36 AM Freeport, Bahamas -On January 22nd Labyrinth walks were being conducted all over
the world in response to this human suffering following the earthquakes
in Haiti. There are reports of walks from the Pacific Northwest, to
the mid west, to St. Croix, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and our
own Grand Bahama. Indeed, the labyrinth is enfolding the World in her
skirts of peace, comfort and compassion.
We held our Walk yesterday in honour of Haiti on our Sacred Path in the
Garden of the Groves. The Labyrinth was surrounded by low level solar
lights and tiki
torches set in the jasmine.

Freeport, Grand Bahama - Despite cool weather conditions and a wind blown Christmas tree, many came out to enjoy caroling around the Grand Bahama Labyrinth on Saturday, December 19th.
The following is a message from Barbara Chester:
We righted the tree which was out of her pot
lying sadly at the centre of the Labyrinth with some lost ornaments and
a broken star! With Darren's help, I had her back in place by early
afternoon and, as you will see from the photos, looking bright and
sparkly once again.
Gloria McGlone was her usual fabulous self. She
brought many of her Carollers (from the 'Many Moods of Christmas'
production)...
Grand Bahama, Bahamas - Join us on
Saturday, December 19th for the annual
Christmas Caroling Party at the Grand Bahama Labyrinth from 4 to 5pm
Taste mulled wine and minced pies. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit upon.
We would remind you all that the Path of the Labyrinth is a spiritual tool for healing and peace.
It represents a personal journey to our Creator, and a symbolic destination path...
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - Remembrance Day on November 11th was serenely observed at the
Garden of the Groves in the beautiful, sacred setting of the Labyrinth,
where all the benches were occupied by locals and visitors from around
the World. Poppies were available for everyone.
The sun shone from an exquisitely blue sky and many of our
feathered friends sang to the accompaniment the quiet background
music from selections of the Maastricht Salon Orchestra, and Richard
Shulman's 'Music to Walk the Labyrinth'.
Just before noon, Barbara Chester welcomed everyone and commented
on the wonderful news of the joint ceremony, held that day in France
commemorating the end of the Great War conflict..
Grand Bahama Island - In the loving
spirit of peace, we welcome all who will join with us at the

duo: Ivy Elden and Gloria McGlone. These two inspirational thespians,
once again drew on our amazingly talented community who gave of their
very best and gave us the very best in song, dance and true
entertainment at our Labyrinth.
The show opened with a Poem, spoken in gentle tones by Ivy Elden,
and ended with the lovely Susan Jensen Sweeting encouraging the
audience to join her on the Labyrinth for a 'Moon Dance' which she sang in her crystal clear voice .
The circular Labyrinth stage was, for the first time, a

I
hoped that one day I might get the opportunity to meet Barbara Chester
since only a small bit of ocean separates our two homes. Her passionate
work had inspired me when I interviewed her for my article “The Grand
Bahama Labyrinth” (The Spirit of Veriditas, Voices From the Labyrinth
- Winter 2009, page 6).
Yet
no one could have been more amazed by the Providence surrounding our
meeting than me. Not until I noticed the small brown sign from my taxi’s
window pointing toward “The Garden of the Groves” did I realize
that our last minute family vacation had brought me full circle to a
moment of Grace.
We had just two days before we needed to be back on the boat headed
home to Florida. Barbara and I had only communicated a couple of times
via email months before...
