Under the watchful eye of a brilliant moon, the Grand Bahama Labyrinth at the Garden of the Groves was the stage for the dancers and singers performing under the canopy of the night sky on Saturday, January 10th 2009. The Eldon-McGlone production called “Circle of Life”, in support of the Grand Bahama Humane Society, dazzled a large crowd of approximately 200 people. Viewers circled the Labyrinth either in lawn chairs, on blankets or even stood to watch a show that is a first for Grand Bahama, and most definitely a first of many performances to come at the Grand Bahama Labyrinth.

The night was a fascinating mix of ancient and modern rhythms and movement, passionate singing, and heartwarming images of animals through the modern technology of the interactive screen display.

The night was a feast of singing with songs from The Lion King, Pocahontas, Tarzan and other shows, all holding the Humane Society ethos firmly at the heart of the production. The audience enjoyed singing and dancing from performing artists who offered their talent toward this worthy cause, those being Dalia Feldman, Susan Jensen-Sweeting, Javan Hunt, Kenton Pinder, Brion Roxbury, Marjoke Twiest, Georgia Taylor's School of Dance, Bahamas Dance Theatre, The Starlighters and Sunland School, with accompanist Sheena Moree.

All monies raised went to animal care at the HSGB's new Animal Welfare and Adoption Centre. The Garden of the Groves, Barbara Chester of the Grand Bahama Labyrinth, Dr. Funk, Nesbitt Tent Rental, Dave Mackey/Mackeymedia, The Bahamas Weekly, Paula Farrington/Freeport Advertising and Printing are to be commended for their donated time, talent, services and equipment.

The evening’s entertainment ended with a grand finale where all the performers created a circle in the middle of the Labyrinth, and gave a heartfelt appeal for the beautiful animals currently cared for by the Humane Society. All those that attended and participated where sure to agree that the night was a howling success!
