Nassau, Bahamas - Decades of the best Bahamian songs have been reinvented
and compiled for today’s listeners in the new CD
Fresh Paint,
which will be released September 30.
Fresh Paint
is the result of the musical mind of Fred Ferguson. In The Bahamas’
music industry, Mr. Ferguson is recognized as being among the most talented
musicians and composers of the modern era. For
Fresh Paint,
he searched through countless original songs to identify his list of
the most iconic Bahamian songs in history. After churning them
through his creative process, he has alchemized standards of bygone
eras and freshened up more modern tunes to develop a CD that can be
labeled as an instant classic.
“I am excited
because this project breathes new life into our great songs,” Mr.
Ferguson said. “Each of them represents a certain period in our musical
history, but at the same time, they are all timeless. I believe this
CD reinforces that classic quality of these songs, and introduces these
hits to new generations.”
Charles Carter,
a radio personality and an authority on Bahamian music, highly recommended
the CD.
“I grew up
in my father's music shop here in Nassau and shared his enthusiasm for
Bahamian music,” he said. “I therefore take pleasure in informing
you that his CD,
Fresh Paint, is the definitive collection of
original Bahamian music ever assembled for one CD project. The selections
are some of the best songs written and performed by Bahamians ever.
Fantastic rake 'n' scrape classics that make you just want to get up
and dance, interspersed with ballads that take you back to the islands.
This project is Fred Ferguson at his best: as an exponent of and an
expert in performing our music.”
Fresh Paint
features longtime favorites such as
Bahama Rock and
Shotgun
Wedding by legendary composers Ronnie Butler and Eddie Minnis.
Other songs include
Bangalay,
Out on the Beach, Send Him Home
and
Funky Nassau.
The CD will
be available online at iTunes, amazon.com and at music stores throughout
The Bahamas beginning September 30.
