VANCOUVER, BC - The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism (BMOT) delegates continued a media tour in Canada to share information about the “16 Weddings Invitation” promotion that will enable 16 lucky Canadian couples to have their dream wedding in The Bahamas on November 16, 2016 at 16:00 hours. The weddings will take place simultaneously at 16 different Bahamian locations on 14 of the country’s many islands.

Bahamas Ministry of Tourism representatives, Paul Strachan, Senior Director of Bahamas Tourist Office Canada and Anita Johnson-Patty, General Manager of Communications recently met with key media in Vancouver and Calgary Canada to update them on the 16 Weddings Invitation.

This unique social media contest invites engaged couples in Canada to select one of sixteen locations within The Islands of The Bahamas as the backdrop for their dream wedding. They are encouraged to creatively incorporate something that is distinct and indigenous to the islands into their wedding ceremony, using suggested BMOT wedding themes. Contestants will then upload photos and/or a short video to www.bahamas16weddings.com, describing their wedding and why they should be selected to win. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and posted on the site for consumers to vote via social media for the most creative entries. The sixteen contestants with the most votes will form the winning group of couples to be married in The Islands Of The Bahamas.

The Bahamas is known as the premier destination in the region for romance – weddings, honeymoons, vow renewals and romantic escapes – and recently received the World Travel Award as World’s Leading Wedding Destination 2015. In addition to this, the promotion also highlights the diversity, beauty, charm and distinct characters, flavors and cultures of each of the 16 distinct wedding locations and provides an opportunity for 16 newly engaged couples to receive a complimentary dream destination wedding.

Couples will receive complimentary round trip airline tickets from their respective towns to The Bahamas, hotel accommodations including meals for a minimum of five nights, a wedding ceremony, cake, flowers, and reception for up to four guests. A bridal gown and personal wedding coordinator will also be provided for each couple.

The promotion launched in January at Canada’s Bridal Show in Toronto, Ontario, followed by the commencement of the digital campaign on January 11. The contest closes on June 10, 2016 and winners will be announced on June 16, 2016.
