Islands Of The Bahamas Dominate Virtual Palm Beach Boat Show

Saturday, June 13, More Than 19,000 Persons Have Registered for the Show

PALM BEACH, Florida – The Islands Of The Bahamas dominated the landing page of the virtual Palm Beach International Boat Show on Saturday, June 13, 2020, dubbed “Bahamas Day”.

The show, organized by the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County, is taking place virtually, for the first time in its 35-year history due to the Covid-19 pandemic and runs June 2 – 30, 2020.  More than 19,000 persons have registered for the show thus far, and some 800 vessels, including150 super-yachts, are exhibitors.

The Bahamas is the exclusive international destination featured at the month-long show and as part of its dominance, is showcasing 24 hours of digitized video content at its virtual Bahamas booth.  Video content includes serene scenes, commencing with The Bahamas’ Fly-Away campaign with Lenny Kravitz along with virtual tours of islands in The Bahamas and virtual presentations given by tourism and industry experts on the Bahamas Tourism Readiness and Recovery Plan, Covid-19, Association of the Bahamas Marina member facilities and upcoming boating flings.  A virtual “Frontline Super Dad” contest and Bahamas getaway for a lucky father and guest to the exclusive French Leave Resort & Marina in Governor’s Harbour, Eleuthera was also featured. The three days, two nights, ocean view villa accommodations for two come with complimentary dockage, for a yacht up to 160 feet.  All virtual content will remain on the Palm Beach Boat show website until June 30, 2020.

On Monday, June 15, 2020, The Bahamas will reopen its borders to international boaters and private pilots.  Airports for commercial and general air travelers, reopen on July 1, 2020.

According to Richard Treco, Senior Manager, Vertical Markets at the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation, in Plantation, Florida, “Boating represents one of the leading contributors to The Bahamas tourism economy.  Persons around the world and in particular, the USA, have been sheltered in for months and are more than ready for a near-by getaway.  As the U.S. borders begin to reopen, we have been inundated with calls and requests from boaters, especially in Florida, wanting to visit The Bahamas right away.”

“Our proximity to Florida and the beauty and safety of our chain of islands, along with our stringent health and safety protocols, bode well for these travelers, who are excited to visit our islands.”

Three boating flings to The Bahamas are already planned for July 9-19, July 23-26 and July 29-August 2, 2020.  Interested persons can register at www.Bahamas.com/boating.
