Ross University appoints Director of Finance and Administration

Grand Bahama Island – Ross University is pleased to announce and welcome Mr. Subir Das Gupta who will fill the position of Director of Finance and Administration at the Bahamas Ross University School of Medicine opening in January 2009.

 

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Das Gupta headed the Finance Department of the Penthouse Group, a privately-held group engaged in the hotel and property sectors.

 

Mr. Das Gupta is a member of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants, having qualified through the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a Sloan Fellow, the equivalent to a Master of Management, of the London Business School of England.

 

Mr. John St. James, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ross University indicated his distinct pleasure in having a professional of Mr. Das Gupta's caliber join the University.  

 

"It is obvious from Mr. Das Gupta's professional accomplishments, impressive educational background and his involvement in the community's commerce, that he will provide an immediate positive impact on the financial operations at our new location in Freeport.   We welcome him to the Ross family," said Mr. St. James.

 

Mr. Das Gupta arrived in The Bahamas in 1983 to take up the position of Chief Accountant of the National Insurance Board in Nassau. He relocated to Freeport in 1987 to become Senior Manager of Deloitte & Touche.

 

Mr. Das Gupta is a past President of the Rotary Club of Lucaya and a past Treasurer of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce.

 

Subir Das Gupta is married to Orian Whymns, and they have three sons.
