In 1987, when Alephonsion was seven years old, his village in Southern Sudan was attacked by government troops. To avoid capture he ran into the night with many other young boys. Without food, water, shoes or parents, he crossed a 1000 miles of lion and crocodile infested territory. After five years of fleeing war, starvation and wild animals, he reached Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya and began his education. In 2001 the U.S. Government welcomed Alephonsion as one of the Lost Boys of Sudan.

The Meah Foundation invites you to hear the inspiring story of Alephonsion Deng at a series of events set for Nassau, Bahamas with the writer.

‘They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky’ books will be available for sale at all events. Sponsored by the The Tribune.

We will also be selling Alephonsion Deng’s Story Bracelet. Sponsored by Rotary Bahamas.

Proceeds to benefit the work of The Meah Foundation and Water for South Sudan http://www.waterforsouthsudan.org.
