Grand Bahama's Most Courteous Driver Award Presentation: March 2015‏

Freeport, Grand Bahama - The presentation of the Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter Award-March 2015, at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Rotary Club of Lucaya took place on Tuesday afternoon at the Ruby Swiss Restaurant.

At about 1:45pm on Friday 27th, February 2015, Colin Knowles of Lewis Yard, was driving his grey Chevy Cobalt east along West Sunrise Highway in the vicinity of Bahamia Estates, when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle, careened off the southern side of the highway and crashed into a tree.

The vehicle was damaged moderately on the front section, while Mr Knowles and a female passenger Temeka Stuart of Eight Mile Rock, both sustained minor injuries.

A passerby driving an Isuzu SUV Mr Zavia Bastian, upon seeing the vehicle crashed into the bushes, pulled over to render assistance. After assessing the situation, he telephoned the police and remained at the scene with the Injured persons, until the ambulance and Traffic police officers arrived.

As a result of this compassionate act on the part of Mr Bastian, he was nominated as the "Most Courteous Driver of the Quarter-March 2015 ".

He was presented with an inscribed mahogany plaque and a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline.
