The Rotary Club of East Nassau presents a donation of food items to Pat's Senior Citizen Home while they spent a Saturday visiting with the Residents and doing repairs around the home.

Nassau, Bahamas - Pat's Senior Citizen Home on Soldier Road, Nassau, is more than a retirement house for the elderly. Mrs. Patricia Moxey, who runs the home for a number of elderly Bahamians, has created a loving home environment for the twenty-two full time residents in her professionally equipped home for seniors.

When the Rotary Club of East Nassau (RCEN) arrived at the home last Saturday they expected to simply make a donation of food, see to a handful of repairs, and to visit with the Residents. What the Rotarians didn't expect was to meet Harold Eugene "Gene" Gibbs, a pioneer in the Bahamian tourism industry whose start began in 1973 when he was appointed Area Manager of the Bahamas Islands Tourist Office in Boston, MA. The morning visits flew by while Rotarians conversed with Mr. Gibbs, and other residents, who enjoyed the chance to talk politics and about their home islands.

RCEN was chartered in 1953 and enjoys a strong membership of 118 community minded individuals. The Club meets at 12:30pm every Friday for lunch at the Nassau Yacht Club. People interested in Rotary are encouraged to visit the website at www.RCEN.org for more information.
