The Bahamas Weekly is pleased to present herewith this third video of the multi-part series of presentations delivered at The Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce’ Economic Development Summit that took place June 10th, 2011. In this segment you will get the opportunity to hear from Bradley Armbrister, Island Administrator, East End district discuss the Gr-Abaco bridge; a bridge between Abaco and Grand Bahama Island and the great economic potential of such an undertaking and how the pros outnumber the cons. He passionately states that Abaco could prosper greatly through the utilization of The Grand Bahama International Airport, The Freeport Container Port, The Grand Bahama Sporting Complex and more. He elaborates on the added revenue stream that would be generated by the trucking industry for both Islands and the tremendous tourism opportunities that would be made available. Mr. Armbrister fervently expresses the grand benefits that would happen for the wider community as opposed to special interest persons that seek to protect their niche business interests at the expense of greater progress for the whole. Mr. Armbrister adamantly proclaims that “Competition is a global phenomenon, GET USED TO IT!”

Armbrister further notes the tremendous business opportunities of such a labour intensive undertaking that would include; heavy rig drivers, bus drivers, stevedores, tour guides, mechanics, gas station attendants, souvenir stores, restaurants and entertainment, sports.

Additionally, Armbrister speaks on education and the “duplication of scarce human resources” that occurs in the eastern district “where you have 4 principals, 15 teachers and other ancillary staff for a collective student body of 102 students You do the math and work out the ratio.”
