Nominations open for GB Chamber's 3rd Annual Business Excellence Awards

Freeport, Bahamas - Its the Grand Bahama Chamber Of Commerce 3rd Annual Business Excellence Awards Night ~ coming this November!

 

We all know of someone in business who continues to give excellent service, even during these challenging economic times.  Why not take a minute to recognize these special persons with your nomination.   Deadline for nominations is November 5, 2010.  Self nomination is permitted. 


We are now accepting nominations for the Business Excellence Recognition Awards.  These prestigious awards are designed to honour outstanding Grand Bahamian businesses and executives. FORM ATTACHED BELOW.

  Entries for nominations should include the completed entry form and a summary of 100 words or less that a) explains why this nominee merits being the winner of the award; b) highlights specific business and management practices relevant to the award; and c) illustrates the company’s commitment to employees and the community.

  Any individual who knows of a businessperson that is excelling and meets the judging criteria can make nominations.  Self-nominations are acceptable.  The nominator should ensure that the nominee would show a willingness to participate in this award program.  The deadline for nominations is November 2, 2010.  Please retain a copy of your completed entry.

  JUDGING CRITERIA

In judging this award, the following selection criteria will be considered, but not limited to the following:

·    Business age

·    Nature of activities

·    Historical performance – business achievements

·    Contribution to Bahamian economy

·    Management/Employee Relations

·    Contribution to employment and employee training

·    Commitment to fair and honest conduct in the marketplace ·         Contribution to the community, or a charity  

1.  Outstanding Businessperson of The Year award is given to recognize the most outstanding businessperson, selected from the nominations received.  Increase in business income, innovative spirit, new market acquisitions, job creation and the overall impact on the community, are all aspects that make this businessperson stand out.  The business must have had at least five years of operation by June 2010.

2.  Developing Entrepreneur of The Year award is given to recognize the entrepreneur who has started a new business in the private sector within the past five years.  The business must have at least one full year, but less than five years of operation by June 2010.

3.  Company of The Year is awarded to the business, which has proven to produce good corporate citizens and improve business while adhering to ethical business practices, is involved and active in industry organizations, and is a willing contributor to enhancing the overall development of The Bahamas. Two sub-categories: a) Small Business with 1-50 employees; b) Large Business with over 50 employee.

4.   Philanthropic Business or (Business Person) of the Year – that company or person who has contributed through their business to help charitable organizations or community groups.  

5.  Lifetime Achievement Award – Business person who is recognized for their lifelong growth and contributions to Grand Bahama Island.  

Selection Process: The deadline for submission of application is 5.00 p.m. on November 2, 2010. The selection committee will review each application. Nominees will be informed of their qualification for the Awards by the selection committee. Finalist will be determined and notified by November 5, 2010. The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges appointed by the Board of Directors.    

The Business Excellence Recognition Awards Ceremony will be held on November 20, 2010.

Time: 7pm Cocktail Reception/ 8pm Award Ceremony
Venue: Our Lucaya Ball Room
Tickets are $50.00 per person
