American Women’s Club Joins International Federation

AWC President Calliope Couchell elected to 2nd term

Nassau, Bahamas - The American Women’s Club in The Bahamas (AWC) has named its board of directors for 2016, re-electing Calliope “Cally” Couchell as its president. The organization also has become a member of the global Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO).

Also named to the board of directors were:

Cassandra Price, 1st vice-president

Fay Sands and Patricia Breen Giancola, 2nd vice presidents

Joan Pinder, treasurer

Alison Bethel McKenzie, recording secretary and FAWCO representative

Cally Maillis, corresponding secretary

Colleen Lowe, communications chair

Jayne Holland, executive board support committee

U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires Lisa Johnson serves as AWC Honorary president.

AWC Bahamas, founded in 1959, is a social and civic organization dedicated to charity work and the uplifting and networking of American women in The Bahamas. Although led by American women, membership is open to women from all walks of life, regardless of race or nationality.

FAWCO is an international network of independent organizations whose mission is to serve as a resource and channel of information among its members; to provide a voice for American women abroad and to support the rights of Americans worldwide; and to contribute actively to the global community with a specific focus on education, the natural and human environment, multicultural understanding and international goodwill.
