Potcake star Amigo is the subject of a new 2007 Calendar titled “Amigo Abroad – It Was A Very Good Year” which chronicles his amazing ‘international’ accomplishments over the past year and a half.

Amigo's rescuer and owner and honorary chairperson of the Grand Bahama Humane Society Frances Singer-Hayward stated, "the Amigo calendars, which have become a ‘tradition,’ seek to spread the message of the importance of proper animal care by highlighting the amazing story of Amigo – a former tragic stray potcake who was rescued and rehabilitated by someone who cared, and went on to achieve ‘fame and fortune’- becoming a representative and Ambassador of Hope for challenged animals both here and abroad. As the former mascot and poster boy for The Humane Society of Grand Bahama, Amigo’s likeness appeared on posters, adverts and clothing, advertising the importance of spay/neuter and proper care and treatment of animals.  He has since gone on to appear on CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, been written about in international magazines and newspapers, starred at Mardi Gras, been awarded the Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award - all of which are chronicled in his new calendar."

Amigo’s story highlights the wonderful potential of our potcakes – whom so many take for granted and cast aside, not realizing how highly trainable and valuable they are, not only as the wonderful pets that they are, but their potential to aid in law enforcement and as a friend and Ambassador of Goodwill on behalf of our communities and our country. It is so important that they, as well as all of our animals – be treated with the care and respect that they deserve and that our tragic feral animal problem is curbed through everyone spaying and neutering their pets.

All proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be donated to The Humane Society of Grand Bahama New Shelter Building Fund and to The Bahamas Humane Society in Nassau.
