Nassau, The Bahamas -  As a part of the “BTC Learning Everyday” initiative, Centerville Primary’s Grade 3C class enjoyed a morning of laughter and entertainment last week. BTC’s endorsed talent Tyrone Burrows led an engaging reading session of “The Elephant’s Boast” by Susan Blackaby. The book talks about a pompous elephant overcoming his ego. The story generally teaches kids the importance of humility and the dangers of being boastful.

Principal Jasmine Sands said, “I thought that this was a wonderful initiative. I mentioned to the reader that I was observing the male students and realized that they were extremely intrigued and fully attentive to the story. We don’t have any male staff members at our school. So, we are always appreciative when we have positive male figures on campus.”

Grade 3C’s Teacher Anastacia Maksyhung said, “I thoroughly enjoyed the session. I think I may have enjoyed it more than the students! I liked the interaction between the reader and the students. I love how he helped bring the book to life for the children. I also appreciate that the students can apply this story to their everyday lives.”

Centreville Primary was stop number 4 in the BTC Learning Everyday tour, and will be a number of additional schools BTC will make its rounds to.

Indira Collie, BTC’s Manager for Public Relations said, “We believe that reading is fundamental in raising a child. Learning should be fun and engaging. This tour is just one prong in our holistic approach to youth empowerment.”
