When the Bahamas Bridal Show started in 1990, few people believed this annual event would be successful, much less become a household name in this country. They were wrong.

Led by show organizers Buttons Bridal & Formal Wear, hundreds of persons have made significant contribution to keep this annual event going strong for almost three decades.

On Sunday, April 6th, the Bahamas Bridal Show presented its 26th production under the theme "Here Comes the Bride” at Melia Nassau Beach, featuring many of the country’s leading wedding and home suppliers, including:

SuperClubs Breezes; Bristol Wines & Spirits; Arawak Homes; Liquid Courage; Jewels by the Sea; Colina Insurance; Burns House; Bertha’s Gourmet Catering; Master Mixx; Creative by Design; Lasting Impressions DJ & MC Services; Seleon Productions

Coordinated by Makeva and Shai Wallace, a spectacular fashion show in the Rainforest Theatre by Buttons Bridal & Formal Wear and Wicked Temptations lingerie climaxed the event.

While couples lost their minds over receiving wonderful gifts at the show, others got a kick of watching or participating in game shows and wedding demonstrations. Taking the stage in the Rainforest Theatre, couples excited the large audience with the theatrical gestures during wedding demonstrations, such as the cake-cutting, pretzel-pose champagne toast, taking off the bride’s garter and kissing contest.

For their efforts, couples won fabulous gifts such as:• A wedding reception at SuperClubs Breezes

• Honeymoon stays at Comfort Suites, British Colonial Hilton and Atlantis,

• Wedding gowns & tuxedos by Buttons Bridal & Formal Wear

Couples, their parents and event planners, gathered at Melia Nassau Beach resort Sunday, April 6th, where they received show discounts and specials, product information and won their share of $30,000 in gifts, including the show’s grand prize of a 7-night honeymoon at Melia Orlando Suite Hotel and two round-trip airfare to Orlando, Florida, by Bahamasair which was won by Angel Cartwright and Lennox Colebrooke.

When it comes to the many businesses that have exhibited in the show, Mr. Stubbs encourages brides- and grooms-to-be to demonstrate loyalty to the dedicated businesses that continue to participate on an annual basis, no matter the economic forecast.

“I would like to thank all of the businesses, by their commitment to the show, inspire us every year to produce this spectacular event,” said Mr. Stubbs. “As for all show volunteers and models, no monetary contribution can compensate for their time and talent. I am forever grateful to each of them. Everyone should be proud to know that he or she participated in one of our best productions.”

The show’s producer also extended warm welcome to first-time show exhibitors Skin Solutions Day Spa & Salon, Accessorize Me, Shilon Design Group, Grand Isle Resort & Spa of Exuma, Liquid Courage, St. Gregory’s Church Hall, Pitstop Wines & Spirits, Printing Solutions Bahamas, Native Eye House of Photography, Occasions By J&A - SAT, Clifton Heritage National Park, Event Elegantae, Donnette Williamson, and Cheesecake Heaven who provided the demonstration cake.

Other 2014 exhibitors were Mario Nixon Photography, Fantasy Weddings & Imaging Agency, Video Solutions, Personal Touch Wedding, Eye Candy Makeup Studio, Uniquek Functions and Fanta-C Events.

“Not only did these businesses take part to showcase their products and services, but to win the hearts and businesses of each couple planning a

wedding or special event,” said Mr. Stubbs. “It is our hope couples will give the businesses a fair chance to earn their business which is greatly needed. I have no doubt this collection of businesses will do their best to satisfy wedding and home needs. After all, their objective is to help couples live their wedding dreams, too.”

This year’s wedding exhibition’s moved to Melia Nassau Beach (formerly Sheraton) was a change of scenery for the Bahamas Bridal Show as it marked the first time the show (with the exception of 2006) was not held at Wyndham Nassau Resort where the 5th annual bridal show was held in 1993. Venue change was necessary as Bah Mar comes on stream to give the Cable Beach strip a facelift.
