Nassau, Bahamas - The Ministry of Financial Services along with the Office of the Attorney General is holding a private sector Intellectual Property Seminar on December 3rd and 4th at the British Colonial Hilton to discuss the benefits of a strong intellectual property regime.

Intellectual property rights are an important facet of any economy, and a requirement for The Bahamas international trade agenda. With aims of bolstering current activity, and to attract more technologically advanced investments, the Government is in the process of preparing a new suite of intellectual property legislation. This new legislation will render the regime in line with international best practices and will allow the private sector to take advantage of a new range of activities.

The Government has also has embarked upon a project to make the Intellectual Property section of the Registrar General’s Department WIPO compliant.

The seminar, with support from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is being held on December 3rd at 9:00am and 4th at 10:30am at the British Colonial Hilton.

Participation is FREE, and interested persons must R.S.V.P. to ipseminar@bahamas.gov.bs to ensure seat availability.

Full programmes can also be requested from the provided email address.
