PTG
Marketing & Modeling Agency Directors are beaming with pride at the success
of the young Bahamian talent that was recently taken to the world’s industry
professionals via the Music, Model and Talent Showcase of the Islands (Island MMTS). Since
1999, PTG has trained, groomed and managed local talent for the industry. PTG has
helped young talent (actors, singers, dancers and models) launch their careers internationally
and follow their dreams through development workshops, training, career
guidance and management. Island MMTS is
the brainchild of the Founder of PTG Marketing & Modeling Agency, Pia T.
Glover-Rolle.
However, in the last 18
months, she has left the day-to-day operations of PTG in the capable hands of
her team of Agency Directors - Dion David Maycock, MonaLisa Fowler and
Shervonne Bain. Assisted by the Founder
of The Bahamas Talented Youth Organization (BTYO), Sonovia Pierre, this team
served as the Regional Directors for New Providence for the Island MMTS
International Talent Conference.
Although
corporate sponsorship was minimal, there were 18 Bahamian participants among
130 total participants from all over the Caribbean and The Bahamas at this
year's inaugural Island MMTS event in Nassau, Bahamas. The New Providence group, mentored by PTG,
was a representation of some of the country’s best talent. The delegation made
its presence felt - walking away with 11 division wins!
At
this year’s event, PTG’s very own Davin Johnson captured the coveted title of ‘Top
Overall Male Fashion Model’.
To
add to the honours, a PTG delegate also captured the ‘Overall Chid Model’ Award! This promising young star is the enthusiastic,
amazingly talented, focused and beautiful Penelope Lightbourn.
Two
of PTG models were named “Face of Island MMTS” 2015-2016. They are Jessica
Thompson and Penelope Lightbourn.
The
PTG New Providence group was not to be outdone in the Acting either! Walking away with top spots in the Adult TV
Commercial category was popular local actor, Rossano Deal. Child TV Commercial category was won by Shawna
Gibson.
Most importantly, and the reason why most people sign up for
this event, is for the opportunity to attract potential modeling or talent representation
and development offers. As a result of
this year’s event, PTG has begun negotiations with a number of international agents
and managers regarding potential contracts for Bahamian talent.
Island
MMTS is an organisation whose primary objective is to promote and increase the
standards of training and education in the modelling and performing arts
industry. Island MMTS brings together top professionals from around the world
representing the modelling and performing arts industry, giving aspiring
singers, models, and actors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their
talent to and network with top industry professionals, including agents,
casting and film directors and producers.
PTG
would like to publicly acknowledge and thank Mario’s Bowling & Family Entertainment Palace
(Leslia, Greg & Joia) for their unwavering support.
As PTG prepares for the 2016 Island MMTS event, they are seeking
corporate sponsorship for potential delegates and hopes that corporate Bahamas
will come on board in realizing the value in assisting young talent in pursuing
their dreams. There were a number of talented
young Bahamians that were selected to participate, but were unable to attend
this year’s event due to lack of sponsorship.
“More
corporate sponsorship (scholarships) of the individual talent would go a long
way in assisting in making many of their dreams a reality”, says PTG Agency
Director and Head Booker, Dion David Maycock.
“However, for those in corporate Bahamas who have supported the talent
this year in moving closer to the realization of their dreams, we personally
say a heartfelt thank you! It has been
discouraging for some bright, talented, young Bahamian talent who had to drop
out of the program after months of training and preparation due to lack of
finances. Months of training and preparation is offered free of charge by PTG, but
there is a cost to attend the event and perform. Though it costs our agency to offer the 6-month
development training and preparation, our belief in the strong talent, the
desire to see them placed in international markets and the love of what we do
keeps us doing it. The rewards are
gained when we are able to successfully impact young lives and help them make
their dreams in the industry a reality.”
