Nassau, Bahamas (MBO) November 25, 2012 - Bahamians love to exercise their right to vote, and now they can do so again and again in an effort to help our queen land in the semi-finals of this year’s Miss Universe pageant, to be held December 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Miss Universe Bahamas Celeste Marshall needs your help.  The statuesque beauty – who will represent The Bahamas in the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant – is calling on all Bahamians 13 and over with an email address (or two) to vote for her to help her snag a coveted Top 16 spot in the international competition.  The Miss Universe Organization is once again allowing the public to choose one of its semi-finalists via online voting from now until the voting closes on December 18 and 6 p.m.

Anyone located in, and a legal resident of, the Bahamas can cast their vote(s) for Celeste by logging onto
http://bit.ly/voteMUB and following the instructions to vote and enter registration details. To register you will need to provide your email address, confirm you are 13 years of age or older, and confirm your acceptance of the voting terms and conditions. After you register, you should rank Celeste as a “10”.   If done correctly, you will get a message on your screen.

Unlike other elections where you can only cast one vote, pageants fans can vote online up to 10 times per e-mail address per day. Any additional votes you attempt to cast above these limits – or votes cast outside of the voting window -- will NOT be counted as valid. The producers reserve the right to disqualify, block or remove any votes for any reason, including those votes from any individual who votes by any electronic, mechanical or automated means, or otherwise tampers with the vote process. Rules and procedures are subject to change at the sole discretion of the Miss Universe Organization without notice.

Some may argue that a small nation like the Bahamas with a relatively small population could never compete in such a process against nations with much larger populations.  However, that is not the case. The voting process has been formulated to guarantee a level playing field.  Producers will take the average of the total votes from the IP addresses originating from each country. Each country vote will then count as 1 vote, and be averaged with all of the other country votes to give the contestant a final score.

For example: 200 people from Canada vote for Miss Universe Norway and the average of those votes equals a 6, and 800 people from Norway vote for Miss Universe Norway and the average of those votes equals an 8. Canada’s country vote (6) and Norway’s country vote (8) are each counted as 1 vote and are averaged to give Miss Universe Norway a final score of 7.

Voting online is free. However, your email addresses are collected to ensure compliance with the 10 votes per email address per day limit. Your IP address is collected to verify the country of a vote’s origin.  Email addresses are temporarily stored on a secure server and are deleted within thirty (30) days after the conclusion of the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant. IP addresses are temporarily stored on a secure server based in the United States, and are not transferred to any other location. All IP addresses are deleted 30 days after the conclusion of the 2012 Miss Universe Pageant.

The results may be revealed to the home viewing audience during the Miss Universe live telecast on December 19, 2012 and may be posted on www.missuniverse.com after the show.
