NASSAU, Bahamas - The BTC Enterprise Solutions Team is looking to secure a greater share of the local business market with a new and improved suite of products and services tailored just for businesses in the Bahamas.

On Friday February 22nd BTC executives and members of the Enterprise team hosted ‘Breakfast with Business’ at the Balmoral Club. Existing and potential clients were treated to a series of presentations highlighting the many network upgrades and service improvements in the past 18 months.

“This focus is a part of the company’s competitive repositioning and re-engagement of the Business market,” said Gershan Major, VP Sales Channels & Business Development. “The re-engagement is an acknowledgement that BTC has had to do a better job serving this market segment. As a consequence, BTC has totally reshaped its Business Group,” said Major.

The company has invested tens of thousands of dollars in training and certifying the sales and customer service teams, making them one of the most knowledgeable in Avaya, MITEL and Cisco systems. There is an equally trained technical service delivery team for small, medium and large enterprises that choose to take advantage of the cost effective communication packages. BTC will also showcase the new packages on Grand Bahama and Abaco.

Mr. Major said, “Our clients can expect a highly trained, certified and knowledgeable group of professional account managers and technical teams.  They can also expect solutions- based approach customized to the needs of their businesses. We guarantee that our suite of products and services can improve efficiencies and return on investment. Finally, our clients can expect improved and consistent responsiveness, competitive pricing and greater expressions of the value of their business with BTC.”

BTC has made considerable investments in the improvement of the network infrastructure over the course of the past 14 months, $45 million in the improvement of the mobile network, which included the 4G network.  In December, BTC announced that the initial phase of the mobile network build-out was substantially complete, bringing The Bahamas on par with other twenty-first century countries enjoying modern mobile technology. The country-wide roll-out of a brand new 2G and a brand new 4G network followed 18 months of a painstaking programme of upgrades, replacements, modernization and expansion to an existing but restricted system.

BTC is now moving toward next generation Long Term Evolution, or 4G LTE, a lightning speed wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals to provide an even greater mobile experience. BTC has invested more than $12.5 mil in Next Generation Network (NGN), to improve the wireline and broadband experience, providing up to 8 megs of incredible speeds at competitive prices.

BTC understands that the nature of the archipelago demands a strategic approach that services the entire Bahamas. This strategy is in line with the understanding of the Bahamas’ business market segments, which range from government and hospitality/tourism sectors to small and medium size enterprises. Communities consist of all these segments, whether a small convenience store in Inagua, which may need a basic telephone service and high speed internet connection or a major hotel property in Nassau, with more complex and diverse telecommunications needs. BTC’s commitment is nation-wide.

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) is the leading telecoms operator in The Bahamas. BTC is jointly owned by Cable & Wireless Communications (51%) and the Government of The Bahamas (49%). Cable & Wireless Communications has both management and Board control.
