Thousands of Bahamians participated in Dairy Queen Bahamas’ sixth annual Miracle Treat Day held this summer, raising $12,750 to benefit the Bahamas Sickle Cell Association (B.S.C.A.). The Bahamas Sickle Cell Association is dedicated to enhancing the quality of healthcare, life, and services for individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

Launched locally in 2014, Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day is a cornerstone in the brand’s corporate philanthropy architecture - where two dollars for every blizzard treat is donated to a charity that helps to benefit children and families in need. To date, Miracle Treat Day has raised more than $55,000 for children affected by cancer, diabetes, autism, Down syndrome, hearing impairment, and sickle cell disease.

During a cheque presentation ceremony to the Bahamas Sickle Cell Association this week, DQ’s Derek Osborne and Crystal Campbell also presented DQ employee Jasmine Fertillen with a special donation. Jasmine has been employed at Dairy Queen for three years, and has a nine-year-old brother diagnosed with sickle cell disease.
