Deep Creek, The Bahamas - Deep Creek Middle School (DCMS) will host a series of events in honor of the school’s ten year anniversary. The students, teachers, and parents have countless achievements to celebrate. Earlier this year, the school received international recognition as the only Green Flag eco-friendly school in The Bahamas and Caribbean. DCMS students also attained a 94% pass rate on the National Bahamas Junior Certificate Exams, which is the third year in a row that they have achieved the highest pass rate in the history of the school.

“We are throwing a three-day party with a series of events to celebrate this milestone in the school’s history. We want to thank the alumni, students, parents and community supporters for their partnerships with us over the years, and we want to open up our doors for others to learn about the school,” said Principal Dr. Joanna Paul.

On Thursday, February 17th, the festivities kick-off at 5:00 p.m. with student presentations about unique social and environmental projects in the community.

On Friday, February 18th, the community is invited to dust off those dancing shoes and dress to impress for the annual Black and White Ball hosted at Ingraham’s Beach Inn in Tarpum Bay. The gala M.C. will be comedian Ms. P. from Nassau and will feature live entertainment from the Rum Runners. Tickets are $50 per person and include buffet dinner, cash bar, numerous door prizes, and auction items. Tickets can be purchased at Deep Creek Middle School and Dingles Motors in Rock Sound.

On Saturday, February 19th at 9:00 a.m. the celebration continues with a walkathon and road race competition from Cape Eleuthera to Deep Creek. Participants will receive a blue STREET FAIR t-shirt with every $20 registration. Souse will be available for sale at the end.

On Saturday, February 19th, beginning at 9:00 a.m. DCMS will host a homecoming on the park called STREET FAIR sponsored in part by the Ministry of Tourism. The all day event will feature food, drinks, surprise live entertainment, craft vendors, and a lionfish cook off.

“STREET FAIR 2009 was a smashing success and thanks to the planning of the Deep Creek Middle School and Island School students, we are confident that this year’s STREET FAIR will be just the same! We anticipate over five hundred domestic and international visitors to flock to Eleuthera to show their support of the Deep Creek Middle School,” said Assistant Principal Ms. Kate McAlaine.

For more information on any of the events please contact DCMS at 334-8414.
