On June 25th in Trinidad, The Institute of Charted Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC) elected Bahamian, Jasmine Davis as it new president for the period 2015-2016. Ms. Davis is the first Bahamian woman to hold the prestigious post with the only other Bahamian being Philip Galanis. The following is a personal message by Jasmine Y. Davis:

I would like to extend sincerest thanks for the congratulatory remarks, kind words, prayers and well wishes that I have received since my election as the President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean (ICAC).

To my family, especially my children, without whose love, sacrifice and support I could have not offered myself to serve in any capacity.  To my Doctors Hospital family, words cannot express my thanks to the CFO, CEO, The Board and my team for their continued support. You are a true testament to corporate citizenry; you encourage and celebrate your employees for excelling both internally and externally: “WE ARE DOCTORS HOSPITAL.”

To my colleagues in the accounting profession and fellow members of The Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA) especially BICAs Council – Thank You. I am humbled by the opportunity and view this role as one of service and ambassadorship and I will continue to “Uphold Integrity” while “Striving for Excellence.” Special thanks are also extended to my mentors, my supporters in Grand Bahama, Officials at the Ministries of Finance and Financial Services, the VAT Department, my colleagues from the VAT Education Taskforce,  fellow Board Members both nationally and regionally, members of the media, colleagues and friends.  To my church family at the Parish of St Anne’s, thank you for your continued support and constant prayers. Finally and most importantly I know that without the good Lord nothing is possible because, “To whom much is given, much is required.” - Luke 12:48
