After many months of preparation, hard work, long practices and training, Shavon Hailey Nottage strutted her stuff across the Miss Teenager Universe Stage in Panama on July 27th. The evening was one that will not be forgotten soon by this young lady, who proudly represented The Bahamas against 31 other delegates from around the world. Shavon placed fifth and this was the first time that a Bahamian has come this close to winning that crown.

Shavon has competed in two  local pageants, which she won and currently holds two titles, that of Miss Junior Grand Bahama and Miss Teenager Bahamas. The Freeport native stands a very statuesque 6’1 and was described as “The one to beat” by many pageant pundits, prior to and upon her arrival in Panama last Monday.

“This is a dream come true, and I plan to do my very best and bring the crown home,” she said before her arrival.

Shavon landed in Panama and hit the ground running with five days of photo shoots, media appearances, preliminary competitions. On the final day, and after an exciting swimsuit and evening gown showcase, Shavon emerged within the top six,  placing fifth overall.

Australia emerged as the overall winner, and Shavon admitted that the competition was very stiff, but she was very pleased with the results. Her accomplishment is one that no other Bahamian can state owning.  Judges and fans alike were very taken the Bahamian beauty and told her that she was a shoe in at Miss Universe should she choose to enter.
