Nassau, New Providence - The Bahamas Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling participated in the BTC One Bahamas Unity Walk on Saturday, February 21st, 2015 along West Bay Street early Saturday morning.  Governor General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling, patron of the Unity Walk, and Prime Minister the Rt. Hon. Perry Christie participated in the annual stride for national unity along with Bahamians young and old.  Also pictured at the event are One Bahamas Founder Algernon Allen, One Bahamas Co-Chair Sir Orville Turnquest, and Chairman of the Unity Walk Organizing Committee Peter Bates.  BIS Photographer Derek Smith caught some of the action at dawn.

"One Bahamas is a concept that was started in 1992 by then Minister of Youth, Algernon Allen with the purpose of generating a greater sense of identity, pride and community among Bahamian youth."

"In 2006, a Foundation was established under the leadership of Sir Orville A. Turnquest and Sir Durward R. Knowles. Today, it strives to promote unity, loyalty, social harmony and friendship among every person residing in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, irrespective of nationality, creed or colour."
