Dear UB Community:

Please be assured that the UB Board of Trustees (BOT) remains engaged in fulfilling its governance mandate. At all times we act in good faith and with good will.

Regarding the naming of the University's next President, the BOT is actively pursuing a public announcement on the heels of a successful presidential search. The board successfully deliberated on the three finalists and reached a decision, with an overwhelming majority. The announcement has been delayed due to matters beyond the BOT’s control, namely a national election and subsequent change in government.

We reiterate that the Presidential Search Committee (PSC), appointed by the Board, ably completed a global search with the assistance of consultants, AGB Search. The PSC’s appointment followed President Rodney D. Smith's stated decision to depart the University upon completion of his contract at the end of July 2022.

The BOT continues to work with the government to bring this matter to conclusion, and looks forward to making an announcement soon.

We are confident the University will continue to thrive and those we serve, will soar. We thank you for your patience in this matter.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Rodgers

Chair

Board of Trustees
