Nassau, Bahamas - Last week, Sunryse Shredding Services paused to celebrate its long-standing clients at an awards ceremony held at Melia Nassau Beach Hotel. During the event, the document destruction and records management company also unveiled plans for new facilities and future expansion throughout The Bahamas.

Clients from the banking, insurance and financial services industries received awards at the corporate mixer held on Thursday. Managing Partner, Chris Sawyer and his wife, Nadine, founded the company in 2000 under the original name Sunryse Shredding. They were the first company in the Bahamas to offer mobile shredding to private and public entities seeking to properly dispose of confidential information.

“Tonight is about celebrating great collaborations with our great clients. As we continue to grow and expand our business, we wanted to pause and recognize you and to thank you for your support,” Mr. Sawyer said while addressing the event. “Our company has responded to your needs and have expanded beyond shredding to records management where we collect, catalogue and store physical files and offer document scanning services with access to our online platform.”

On hand for the awards presentation was the Hon. Khaalis Rolle, M.P. and Minister of State for Investments. He congratulated Mr. Sawyer and his team at Sunryse and spoke of the government’s continued commitment to creating a positive environment for local businesspersons.

“And as we go through the National Development Plan, one of the things we recognized very early on is that we need to have a comprehensive and integrated approach to business development. And we’re working diligently to ensure that the ‘Chris Sawyers’ of the world, all over The Bahamas, benefit from the legislation, the environment and all of the support mechanisms in place to ensure that they develop into successful businesses.”

Minister Rolle wished Mr. Sawyer and his team continued success. “I am happy to see all of the hard work that you’ve put in and the success you’ve achieved thus far and I know, during this next phase, that you will be equally or even more successful as you journey to become one of the best business in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas.”

Even as Sunryse expands to offer services beyond shredding, the company continues to be a local leader in recycling. In 2015, Sunryse shipped 1.2 million lbs of shredded paper to international recycling facilities. “That’s the equivalent of twenty-eight 40-ft containers of disposable material we did not have to add to the city dump,” Sawyer explained.

In the coming months, Sunryse Information Management which currently employees 15 persons, plans on breaking ground on a new 36,000 sq. ft. facility in Gladstone and Fire Trail Road and is eying opportunities for growth throughout The Bahamas and the region.
