Nassau, Bahamas - On Saturday, November 28th, 2015, Trinity Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Holiday Festival. The event will be held at Trinity Place next to Central Bank (between Market Street and Frederick Street).

The Holiday Festival and Mini Fair evolved from the Fall Festival, which started over ten years ago. For the first two years, spaces were rented to vendors who sold their own goods, with emphasis was on Bahamian-made craft items. After adding dinners, other food, a Bouncy Castle and games, it grew into the Holiday Festival and Mini Fair.

Along with the usual fair attractions, Trinity Methodist Church’s event includes specialties like an extensive collection of plants, delicious fresh-churned homemade ice cream, and unique Christmas craft items. This year’s Holiday Festival will also feature a special performance by the C. R. Walker High School Band.

Most of the proceeds from the event go to Trinity’s Outreach Ministries, which includes a Soup Kitchen every Tuesday. While the numbers fluctuate, the Soup Kitchen averages 130-150 walk-ins every Tuesday, and deliveries are made to the Cancer Caring Centre. Trinity’s Outreach Ministries also include donations of clothing, school supplies, and Christmas gifts each year.

“We encourage the public to support us in our effort to help others by raising funds for the Outreach Ministries. In addition to a being a fund-raiser, this is also an opportunity for fellowship and interaction, a time to enjoy some good food, including those things we can only get at a fair. Plus, it’s a good family outing in a safe environment,” says Rev. Bill Higgs, Minister of Trinity Methodist Church.

The Holiday Festival is just one of many events held at Trinity Methodist this holiday season, which include a Christmas Concert and a Candle Lighting Service.
