It has been brought to the University’s attention that statements alleging that the institution and/or the President granted a “secret scholarship” to a daughter of the Minister of Education the Hon. Jeffrey L. Lloyd, and awarded a research grant in the amount of $500,000 to Dr. Adelle Thomas, were made this past Monday by a talk show host on ILTV.

These allegations are completely false. The University has not awarded any such research grant to Dr. Thomas, nor has it granted a “secret scholarship” to a daughter of the Minister. Any applicant who fulfils stipulated requirements, may qualify for a government grant, bursary, scholarship or financial aid. University of The Bahamas operates with integrity and in strict accordance with its policies and procedures.
