Nassau, Bahamas - Chairman of the Board of Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD), Anthony McKinney, today announced the appointment of Vernice Walkine to the position of President and CEO, expected to take effect in March of 2013, and thanked outgoing CEO, Stewart Steeves, for his significant contributions over the past six years.

“Not only was Vernice the first Bahamian executive on the team in her role as Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Development, she is the first woman to have the top job at our airport,” said McKinney. “Vernice joined NAD two years ago, and has added tremendous value to the company by reason of her many years of experience in tourism and all of its related sectors.”

George Casey, President and CEO of Vantage Airport Group, the company that operates the airport, added, “ It has been a significant benefit for NAD and Vantage having Vernice on the team for two years while the new terminals were being built. Now she will bring her particular talents to the operation, management and customer service delivery excellence which will make Lynden Pindling International Airport the premiere airport in the region.”

Outgoing President and CEO, Stewart Steeves, guided the entire airport redevelopment project from the initial RFP process through to securing all the project financing and construction of the two completed terminals and the start of the third. He began his career at NAD as Chief Financial Officer, moving on to Project Director and then President and CEO. He will be transitioning to the Vantage corporate office in Vancouver, British Columbia to assume broad responsibility for the company’s global assets as its new Vice President of Finance and CFO.

Further details regarding the effective dates for the transition to take place will be confirmed later.
