Nassau, Bahamas –  AML Foods Limited, announced today that they were successful in raising $40,000 during their recent “Gifts for Good” program, in support of twenty local charities in New Providence and Grand Bahama.  The program ran during the month of August and each of the charities received $2,000.

President and CEO, Gavin Watchorn said, “Although we fell short of our initial goal by $10,000, we are still very pleased with our overall efforts.  AML Foods Limited initially agreed to match the donations collected up to $25,000, but the response we received highlighted the tough economic times that we are facing and the great need of many in our communities.  Because of this we decided to increase our donation to $30,000.  We are indeed happy that we were still able to meet the challenge.”

The program was offered through the AML Foods Limited brands Cost Right, Solomon’s and Domino’s. As a Company AML Foods Limited donated a total of $30,000, and due to the generosity of some of their Directors who contributed their Directors fees of approximately $5,000, and donations from valuable customers, a total of $40,000 was raised.

In New Providence the participating charities were: The Bilney Lane Children’s Home, The Ranfurly Home for Children, Unity House, All Saints Camp, Great commission Ministries, Kingdom Ministries, St. Vincent De Paul, The Salvation Army, Special Olympics, The Bahamas Humane Society, The Bahamas National Trust and STRAW.  In Grand Bahama the participating charities were: The Red Cross, The Northern Bahamas Council for the Disabled, Carry Your Candle Light The Bahamas, The Grand Bahama Home for the Aged, The Grand Bahama Children’s Home, BASRA, The Pro-Cathedral of Christ The King Lord’s Kitchen and The Cancer Association.

The twenty charities were all grateful for the donation, stating that without the support of Corporate citizens like AML Foods Limited their work would be in vain, and thanked the Company for supporting their efforts to make a difference in the lives of so many.
