2nd Annual Grand Bahama Homecoming Scheduled For Labour Day Weekend

Freeport, Grand Bahama – The 2nd Annual Grand Bahama Homecoming is set for Labour Day Weekend June 2nd-5th in Freeport. The Homecoming Committee recently held a press conference at Castaways Resort to announce plans for the upcoming three day event which will include music performances, a cultural show, native foods, Junkanoo Rushout and beach party.

Kicking off the event on Day One Friday June 2nd is top Bahamian artist DMAC, Day Two Saturday June 3rd international Reggae sensation Beres Hammond will headline the show and the celebration continues on Day Three Whit Monday June 5th with a ‘Family Fun in The Sun’ Beach Party on iconic Taino Beach.

Committee Chairman Clayvon Duncombe thanked all of this year’s corporate partners for supporting the vision of Grand Bahama Homecoming. Representatives from event sponsors Castaways Resort, Commonwealth Brewery, FOWLCO, 100 Jamz and ALIV attended the press conference to endorse the event and affirm their individual company’s commitment to the celebration. ALIV is one of the newest sponsors of Grand Bahama Homecoming and the telecommunications company has recently signed on as the event’s exclusive title sponsor. Other corporate partners include Ministry of Tourism, Grand Bahama Port Authority, Cash N Go, Gold Rock Creek, Pelican Bay Resort, Castaways Resort, 5 Star Rental & Car Accessories and Phluid Phactory.

The Grand Bahama Homecoming Committee is focused on building a network with residents and businesses on the island, to position the festival as an event that will create economic opportunities and stimulate the economy of Freeport. The goal is to develop a sustainable event that will encourage Grand Bahamians residing off island to return home annually for the celebration, and also attract Bahamians throughout The Bahamas and visitors abroad to Grand Bahama each year. The committee plans to donate proceeds from the Homecoming Weekend to the Phluid Phoundation Scholarship Fund which was established to offer educational financial assistance to students on Grand Bahama Island.
