Freeport, Grand Bahama - Brothers of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. on Grand Bahama gave their support to the Haitian relief effort launched by the support staff of Freeport Container Port (FCP), Freeport Harbour Company (FHC), Grand Bahama Airport Company (GBAC) and MSC Bahamas with a donation for the purchase of goods and supplies. The goods will be a part of the container being coordinated for shipment to Haiti.

Nahshon Collie, Operations Supervisor with Grand Bahama Airport Company and a member of the fraternity said, “As Haiti is in the eyes of the world following the 7.0 earthquake that struck on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, the Brothers of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity pray that family and loved ones of the victims of this disaster would be comforted as they receive the relief so desperately needed.

“We thought it prudent to assist as best we could in the relief effort by contributing to this effort by HPH support staff, hence our donations today.”

Also, in an effort to assist with the local needs of the Grand Bahama community the fraternity also made a donation to the Grand Bahama Red Cross.

On hand to accept the donation was Human Resources Director, Ms. Malvese Capron along with GBAC Director, Phil Carey. Miss Princess Ingraham accepted for the Red Cross.

The drive by HPH employees began on Saturday past when the container was at Solomon Wholesale on Queen’s Highway and continued on Monday at Grand Bahama Airport Company.
