Freeport, Grand Bahama -The Bahamian Brewery and Beverage Company quickly donated to the Haitian Relief fund via Rotary Grand Bahama Sunrise yesterday.  The substantial monetary donation will be channeled through the Rotarian International funding planned for Haiti.

"This is a great start for us and will hopefully get the rest of the community to follow suit," said Jamie Rose, President of the GB Sunrise Rotary.  "Every dollar will go towards the aid as our Rotary group will be working with the Red Cross Internationally to assure our assistance gets to the people who need it.  The Red Cross are already established in Haiti and they will be able to make sure the help we send is distributed properly."

The earthquake disaster has overwhelmed many in the Bahamian community who want to help as quickly as they can. "We have all watched the catastrophic news and we at the brewery are cognizant of how devastating an effect it has had on our Haitian brothers and sisters," noted Donald Delahey, Bahamian Brewery General Manager. "Mr. Sands and his partners agreed to assist as quickly as they could, they knew that Rotary with its civic connections would assure that the aid given would get into the hands of the less fortunate properly and help provide the correct assistance needed."

Though this is a huge start for the relief, Rotarians are also planning additional fundraisers here on the island.  Delahey and Rose began early discussions for a fundraiser to be held at the brewery in the near future, details will be forthcoming.  Persons wishing to assist via Rotary can contact President Jamie Rose at  freeportskiff@yahoo.com or via  Office (242) 352-9246 /  Cell (242) 646-6395.
