Freeport, Grand Bahama - Four entrepreneurs are embracing The Columbus House, a residential home
for young males and females between the age of 12-18, as they host
"Corks, Cupcakes & Canapes". This event is scheduled for Saturday,
December 1 at the Pelican Bay Resort, Delphin Room from 7 - 9 p.m. to
raise much needed funds for the upkeep of the youth and the home.
The Columbus House provides a stable, safe and
nurturing environment for the adolescents who do not have a home, as an
alternative to placement in the Boys & Girls Industrial Schools
(Simpson Penn and Willamae Pratt Centers). Residents come from Grand
Bahama, Abaco and Bimini and are provided with food, shelter, clothing
and access to healthcare and education by the Government. Support from
the community is welcome due to the high cost to maintain the home and
the quality care provided.
Hearing of the needs of The Columbus House, Brittney
Silvera Baldwin of Sweet Affairs, Ashley L. Baker of Bliss Boutique,
Gwynn Stegar-Porter of Diary of a Mad Cooking Woman and Stephanie Doland
f Creative Designs banded together to create an evening of fun
featuring sweet cupcakes, savoury canapés and amazing wines. Great
music will be provided by The Apple Elliot Band, while silent auctions,
giveaways and a gift tree to provide the children with Christmas
presents, will be in full gear! The Organizers thanks the many
Corporate Sponsors who have stepped up to assist!
Tickets may be purchased at Sweet Affairs and Bliss
Boutique at The Circle Mall and The Art of Giving at the International
Bazaar for $25 each. Additionally, donations may be made payable to
Rotary Club of G. B. Sunrise [with a notation for - Columbus House] on
the cheque.
