FREEPORT, Grand Bahama Island - The management of the Grand Bahama
Power Company is pleased to announce the appointment of Earnestine D. Moxyz to
the position of Assistant to the CEO of Communications, effective March 23rd,
2010.
Ms. Moxyz is
responsible for all corporate communications, community relations and major
customer relations for the Grand Bahama Power Company. In addition to the above, she serves as
the company’s chief spokesperson and is responsible for advertising and the
planning and implementation of the company’s public relations strategies.

A seasoned public relations practitioner, Moxyz has spent
more than 22 years in the field. Prior
to her appointment at the GBPC, she spent 11 years as the Communications Specialist
and Assistant Director of Public Relations for the Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort,
where she was responsible for its public relations initatives, film shoots,
radio and television broadcasts, local advertising and site inspections for media
and travel professionals. She also
served as a Certified Property Service Culture Trainer for the Starwood Westin
and Sheraton brands.
Prior to
that, Moxyz spent almost 11 years with the Ministry of Tourism as a senior
executive in public relations serving in its offices in Nassau, New York and Washington,
DC. While at the Ministry, she served as a speech writer for the Minister of
Tourism and co-hosted its television program, Tourism Today. She has interviewed and worked along
with several celebrities including Sir. Sidney Poitier, Rosa Parks, Trammine
Hawkins, Orenthal J. Simpson and many others and has assisted with the
coordination of several of the Ministry’s special events including its Annual
Weather Conference, Cacique Awards
and Music Festivals .
Moxyz who began her career at the Broadcasting
Corporation of the Bahamas in 1986 also interned as a field reporter with CNN
in Washington, DC and was a former instructor with the Bahamas Baptist
Community College in Nassau, where she taught Business Communication, Human
Resource Management, and Organizational Behavior in the college’s Certified
Professional Secretary program.
In 2008 the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board awarded
Moxyz a gold pin, the highest honor in its Grand Life Ambassador Program for
training more than 1,000 persons in the hospitality industry in the said
program. In the same year, she was
one of 30 women from the Caribbean and North America honored by the Trumpet
Awards organization in Atlanta, Georgia for its “High Heels in High Places”
Award, in recognition for her contribution to the field of tourism, entrepreneurship
and community development.
Moxyz is the receiptant of four degrees including a
specialized degree in Human Resources Management and MBA degree from Nova
Southeastern University, a bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communications,
Film & TV Production from the University of the District of Columbia and an
Associates of Arts Degree in Computer Business Administration & Management
from Prospect Hall College.
The former Miss Bahamas Wonderland, she has represented
the Bahamas in Taipei, Taiwan and throughout the United States of America and
previously served on the board of directors with the Grand Bahama Chamber of
Commerce.
