Freeport, Bahamas – If you like to go thrift shopping, this Saturday, October 31st you’ll be in luck as the women of the Lucaya Presbyterian Church in Grand Bahama will be hosting their second annual fashion show and auction.

In this fashion show with a twist, gently worn clothing will be on sale (even some with designer labels!) and will be modeled and auctioned off to the highest bidders. “All of the money raised during the fundraiser will be donated to the church’s Crossreach programme,” said event organiser Kay Hardy. “Our church feeds over 50 families in our community; these funds will boost our Christmas offerings and put food on the table of very needy Bahamians.”

Pastor Tod Nelson and his wife Nancy along with the ladies of the Presbyterian Church have been collecting new and used items over the past year in preparation for the fashion show and look forward to a great crowd of ‘thrifters’. “This year there will be an entrance fee of five dollars,” said Lena Garcia, event organiser. “Your entrance fee includes drinks, treats and your personal bid paddle. And as everyone knows from the annual ‘Coffee Morning’ there is always super food!”

Although the show begins at 10am and ends at 2pm, guests are invited to arrive early to get their paddles and a good seat. “Once the fashion show ends we will also open our regular sales tables,” noted Hardy. “Here, those like me can get a bargain and buy men’s and ladies clothes, kids clothes and my daughter’s favourite -- shoes and handbags.”

The live auction is expected to start at 10:30am with Sarah Kirkby, Marketing Director at Barefoot Marketing, running the live auction and all ready to get shoppers bidding on some fabulous outfits for a good cause. “We also expect there will be tons of surprises for those attending – not just the fashion show and auction,” added Ms. Kay. “But you have to attend to see and get the deals!”

For those looking for more information they can find the public event on Facebook or come on out on Saturday on West Beach Drive in Grand Bahama.
