Freeport, Grand Bahama - An Earthquake in Haiti Relief Drive in support of the victims of the disaster in Haiti has been launched by the support staff of Freeport Container Port (FCP), Freeport Harbour Company (FHC), Grand Bahama Airport Company (GBAC) and MSC Bahamas.

‘We Are Our Brother’s Keepers’ is the theme of the drive that is soliciting non-perishable goods, toiletries, clothing, shoes, and water throughout the island and is being coordinated by the employees and the Human Resources Department.

“Our organization is making a step in support of the Haiti Relief effort. We will partner with MSC Bahamas Ltd. to ship a 40’ container of relief items to Haiti.

“To this end, we are asking for the business community’s support, indeed the support of the entire Grand Bahama community,” said a spokesman of the Human Resources Department.

The Haiti Relief Drive will take a different twist as Freeport Container Port, thanks to MSC Shipping, has made available a container that will traverse the island collecting donations beginning at Solomon’s Wholesale between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on February 6, 2010, and ending at City Market, Sea Horse Plaza between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2010. The opening and closing dates will be supported by a live remote with Mix 102.1.

The container will do a thoroughfare throughout the streets of Grand Bahama for a week as per the schedule below:

· Solomon’s Wholesale February 6, 2010 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

· GBAC February 8, 2010 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· FHC February 9, 2010 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· FCP February 10, 2010 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

· West End/Eight Mile Rock February 11, 2010 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· East End February 12, 2010 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

· City Market, Seahorse Plaza February 13, 2010 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Items being donated can also be dropped off between 7 am and 7 pm daily at Freeport Container Port, at Freeport Harbour Company or at Grand Bahama Airport Company between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

“We are all our brother’s keepers and we are calling on the public to demonstrate a humanitarian spirit and give to the earthquake victims of Haiti,” said the spokesman.

All items donated will be containerized and shipped to Haiti from Freeport Container Port to help those who are suffering and seeking to regain their stability.

Gary Gilbert, CEO of Hutchison Port Holdings said that this compassionate effort by the staff is indicative of their caring spirit and a desire to help, and the company is pleased to again lend a hand in the relief effort for Haiti.

Earlier Grand Bahama Airport Company assisted by accommodating two of the first relief flights enroute to the area.
