Freeport, Bahamas – In their ongoing efforts to support the Grand Bahama Children’s Home, Lucaya International School (LIS) is getting ready to host their 4th annual Turkey Trot fundraiser which will be held Saturday, December 6th at 8am, starting at Banana Bay restaurant.

“We are all very excited about this year's Turkey Trot fun run and walk,” said Cath Hindley, IB/IGCSE Geography Teacher at LIS. “This is the 4th consecutive year the event has taken place and each year it seems to become bigger and more popular, both within our school community and also within the greater Grand Bahama community.”

The Turkey Trot is a fun event with prizes for age group winners - adults will win a turkey courtesy of Bahamas Wholesale Agencies (BWA), and the children win movie tickets.

The entire Turkey Trot planning committee at LIS would like to sincerely thank all of the sponsors, in particular their Corporate Sponsor RoyalStar Assurance, Gold sponsors the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Higgs and Johnson, their Silver sponsors DelAgua and Executive Marine Management, Bronze sponsors are Municipal Motors and H. Forbes Charter Services. In addition they would like to recognize BWA, Sunny Isles Water, Banana Bay, Freeport Advertising, RND cinema, BahamaIslandsInfo.com and Barefoot Marketing for their generous donations of goods and services.

It is the hope that this year's event is going to be a great success and will allow the school to once again make a substantial donation to the Grand Bahama Children's Home to help them with their annual costs. “We cannot be more thrilled with the help given to us annually by the LIS school and its community,” said Sarah Kirkby of the GB Children’s Home Executive Committee.

“LIS donates drinks and food to us annually, they visit and give us toys each year, their older students mentor our children and their moms are organizing a Carnival this year too. We cannot say thank you enough for all they do. They teach their children daily the importance of giving back and helping take care of their community.”

Race entry forms can be collected from LIS on Midshipman Rd. or from the LIS Turkey Trot Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/383967261758468/. Please remember that there will be no race day registrations available, so if you’d like to participate, you must register before December 6th.
