Freeport, Grand Bahama - The Year 4 students at Lucaya International School went on a fun field trip to Grand Bahama Power Company’s Steam P lant last week, as they were learning about electricity for their Unit of Inquiry. Students got a first-hand look at how the steam and diesel plant operate and how the electricity that they use every day in their homes is created . "Hands on experience is great for the children and the Grand Bahama Power staff were super, they really knew how to speak to the children," said LIS Year 4 Teacher Sharron Waterhouse. She escorted 16 students along with three parent chaperones who were guided through the plant by Vaughn Cartwright, Shift Supervisor and Edrondo Thompson, Operator Trainee.“It is always a great experience when the school students come by for tours of the plant. We are able to provide them with a little bit of the knowledge gained from years of experience here at the plant" said Vaughan Cartwright.Pictured isVaughan Cartwright GBPC Shift Supervisor talking to the LIS Year 4 students, also pictured is Carol Kelly, a parent chaperone andEdrondo Thompson fellow GBPC Tour Guide.
