Freeport, Grand Bahama - At about 4:00pm on Thursday 2nd January 2014, a Freeport resident was driving his car east along Settlers Way East in the vicinity of the Grand Bahama Catholic High School sports field, when the right front tyre on his Mitsubishi Galant suddenly blew out, causing him to veer off the road onto the grass verge, where he managed to bring the vehicle safely to a stop.

The driver did not have the proper equipment to change the damaged tyre and while he was pondering what to do, another driver travelling in that vicinity : Dave Lightbourne of Hudson Estates, upon noticing the driver in distress, pulled over to render assistance. Mr Lightbourne utilised his car's jack to remove the damaged wheel and replaced it with a spare tyre, much to the relief of the other driver, who was then able to continue his journey.

He was presented with an inscribed mahogany plaque and a gift certificate for a full tank of gasoline.
