BROADWAY CAST 2010 - Some of the talented cast members of Broadway in Concert 2010 take a break from rehearsing for a group photo on March 22nd.
Freeport, Grand Bahama -- You know the song
“There’s
no business like show business, like no business I know. Everything about it is
appealing ...” That is true, but what the song doesn’t
tell you is that everything is also hard work, and the talented cast of the
upcoming musical Broadway in Concert 2010 are hard at work now, with less than
a month until they hit the stage on April 15th with 4 shows through the 18th.
Many productions don’t like people to sneak
a peek at rehearsals. Without the fancy make-up and costumes, the set still
under construction, and no colourful spotlights and amplified sound, they worry
“everything about it
won’t be
appealing …”
CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG - Remelda Been and Rouen Robinson lead the chorus of kids in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The scene is set in a park with hopscotch, jump ropes, and ball tossing too.
But when you see so many young people hard
at work singing, dancing, and learning the choreography, teenagers who are
working out the set changes and backstage coordination, adults who are happy to
give of their time to join the excitement, director Marjoke Twiest and
choreographers Julian Collie, Stephan Cartwright, and Lois Seiler hard at work
bringing this all together, everything about it is appealing.
Enthusiasm, energy, music, dance, fun and
joyous excitement fill the auditorium as the cast goes through their
paces. Parents in audience end up
clapping along to the tunes of Aquarius, Singing in the Rain, Over the Rainbow,
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and many more wonderful songs from your favourite
musical shows. This is the third year of
the Broadway in Concert shows and 2010 brings all-new songs and a mix of cast
members old and new. There is truly
something for everyone in the family to enjoy.
AQUARIUS - Daphne Fox leads the chorus in Aquarius - Let the sun shine in. The kids perform a terrific dance number in this.
There is no doubt that when the curtain
goes up on April 15th this will be a sold-out show with audiences delighting in
the upbeat atmosphere and marvelling at the talent of all ages we have on Grand Bahama. Names like Trevor Russell, Dalia Feldman,
Rouen Robinson, Remelda Been, Javan Hunt, Julia Geiger and Tiffany Dennison are
only a few of the near 50 cast in this delightful family-oriented production.
Tickets are delightfully priced too at only
$15 for adults and $10 for children.
They will be available shortly at the Seventeen Shop downtown, Island
Java in Port Lucaya, Italian Specialty Imports in SeahorsePlaza, and at
the Regency Theatre box office on show nights.
