Minister of State for Grand Bahama

The Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Port Lucaya Marketplace, GBPA, Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board & BTC presents A Taste of Port Lucaya.

Launching Thursday August 3rd, 2017 at 6 pm until 11 pm in the Count Basie Square Port Lucaya Marketplace

It is the mandate of my Government and particularly the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama to drive economic development. These series of events are designed to bring economic boost to the tenants of Port Lucaya Marketplace.

Leveraging the success model of Goombay Summer, the festival continues every other Friday during the months of August, October and November.

A Taste of Port Lucaya will feature top Bahamian Artists such as Stileet, Wilfred Solomon, the Police Pop Band, The Rhythm Band, Grand Bahama's top DJs, other live entertainment and so much more...

Also coming to Grand Bahama to host our opening night is none other than Sawyer Boy. We are thankful for our government and private partners who have come along side the Office of the Prime Minister Grand Bahama to make planning and executing this event a success.

The Ministry of Tourism team is leading our international marketing campaign in conjunction with the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board. Ministry of Tourism will ensure that the event is promoted on all its social media channels as well as integrate in all of the international campaigns and Bahamas Tourist Office initiatives.

We will also use the Tourism Today platform to communicate our message. The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board is pleased to be working with the planning committee to offer our fellow Bahamas Residents and International visitors an opportunity to come and experience a 'Taste of Port Lucaya' and Grand Bahama Island.

We are working with our Local airline partner, Bahamasair and member hotels to make special rates and offers available. Special Bahamas Residents Hotel rates are currently available at: Grand Lucayan Lighthouse Pointe, Castaways Resort & Suites and Flamingo Bay Hotels. Rates can be accessed by logging on to GrandBahamavacations.com Hot deals page or by contacting the hotels directly.

In addition, local tours and attractions are offering Special Bahamas Residents rate: Grand Bahama Nature Tours, H. Forbes Charter and UNEXSO's Diving and Dolphin Experiences are some of the participants.

Word about 'A Taste of Port Lucaya’ is being shared with our International Travel Partners; Expedia and other online Travel Agents. This message will also be displayed on their Social Media and digital platforms to insure that visitors coming to the Island are aware of this additional activity taking place.

 

It's a family affair with security by the Port Lucaya Marketplace and the Royal Bahamas Police Force and ample parking. Families are invited to enjoy late evening shopping, the food specials  and samplings from local restaurants, fashion show, limbo dancing, junkanoo rush out, coconut demonstration, conch demonstration, People to People Tea Tasting and courtesy of the Grand Bahama Port Authority LIVE on stage the 2nd Back to School Vocal Competition with cash prize winnings will be held on August 18th right here at ‘A Taste of Port Lucaya’. The community is invited to come out and support OUR community.
