Campers and volunteers, with organizer Rev. Dave Franklin of Advent Lutheran, Boca Raton and Rev. Clifford Lewis, Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas - Vacation Bible Study is in high gear at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, where 100 campers are kept busy with games, bible study, crafts and drama class sessions under the theme of "Weird Animals"!
With their sister church, Advent Lutheran, based in Boca Raton, Florida, under the direction of Rev.

Dave Franklin and 23 camp instructors each day they teach a specific topic with valuable lessons, such as:

"Even when you're left out, Jesus loves you!"
"Even though you're different, Jesus loves you!"
"Even when you don't understand, Jesus loves you!"
"Even though you do wrong, Jesus loves you!"
"Even when you're afraid, Jesus loves you!"

Our Saviour reaches out to the community each year to invite as many youth as they can possibly accommodate in order for them to have an enjoyable summer camp experience.  Amongst learning stories from the Bible, there are many hugs, numerous planned activities, treats and lunch, all to keep their active minds and bodies busy!

Our Saviour Lutheran Church has partnered with Advent Lutheran Church for the past four years and is most grateful for the friendly relationship and co-operation which brings programmes such as this to our local community.  Advent Lutheran Church is one of the oldest churches in Boca Raton, Florida and has team of college and high school volunteers to help put on "Weird Animals" VBS.  Last week they completed the program in Boca Raton and this week, they are giving their time once again to bring the program to Freeport, which the campers are thoroughly enjoying! Advent Lutheran camp helpers look forward to their visits to the Freeport, as much as the campers look forward to the VBS week long camp!

Our Saviour Lutheran Church is a part of the Evangelical Church of America Florida-Bahamas Synod and is served by Rev. Clifford Lewis and the Church Council.

“It is always difficult planning summer activities for children once school closes and Vacation Bible Study is a wholesome way of keeping our youth safe and to learn the biblical teachings that helps them through life’s journey”, says Rev. Lewis. “We are most grateful to our friends in Christ at Advent Lutheran for so generously giving their time, love and talent to our youth”, says Terry Mosvold, president of OSLC Church Council.

Worship service is held every Sunday at 11 a.m. at OSLC located on Sunrise Highway.
