In August 2008, ISLANDS managing editor Chris Tauber visited Green Turtle Cay, nestled in the Abaco Islands in the outskirts of the Bahamas.

Based at the Green Turtle Club and Marina, he discovered the quiet beaches, explored the intriguing town of New Plymouth and, of course, ordered the famed Goombay Smash.

Overall, the island is an inviting destination for families looking for that ideal balance of accessibility and authenticity. Find out more in the upcoming November 2008 issue of ISLANDS. In the meantime, watch a video enclosed of Chris' trip.

In the feature story entitled, “World’s 14 Best Islands for Families,” Chris describes the thrill of exploring in one of Green Turtle’s famous golf carts, checking out the “outdoor museum” that is New Plymouth and relaxing on seemingly secret beaches on the Eastern side of the island.
