SkyUniversity and the Bahamas Technical Vocational Institute sign Memorandum of Understanding

Nassau, Bahamas - SkyBahamas Airlines is proud to announce an historic partnership between Sky University and the Bahamas Technical Vocational Institute (BTVI), through the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

SkyUniversity is the technical and academic training support institute of SkyBahamas Airlines.  It is the first all-inclusive Aviation Training Institute of its kind in the Bahamas.  Through its innovative partnership with BTVI and its affiliate colleges, Sky University intends to provide a platform dynamic enough to allow real interaction and collaboration amongst Educators, Ground Instructors, Flight Instructors, Training Instructors and students/participants.

According the SkyBahamas’ C.O.O., Mr. Kenneth Romer C.M., “Sky University through its partnership with BTVI is ambitious in its quest to change the domestic travel industry for the better, and build the absolute best Aviation Training and Retraining Program in the Region”.

SkyBahamas, like BTVI are innovators in their respective fields, and share common core values such as honesty, integrity and having the best interest of patrons, students and the travel and academic industries as the primary goal.

In September 2008, SkyBahamas came under new management and ownership, with Captain Randy Butler leading the team as President.  Since then, the company has vigorously pursued new routes and initiatives to now include travel out of Nassau into Exuma, Freeport, Abaco, Cat Island, Bimini, Provo. Turks and Caicos and Haiti.  The Company also offers on-demand charter services into the United States and the Caribbean.  The company intends to further expand its routes in the near future.

SkyBahamas has become synonymous for its careful attention to Superior Customer Service and having a culture of Safety.

According to COO Romer, the partnership with Sky University and BTVI will only seek to further produce the best educated pilots, trained technical employees and superior customer-focused agents.

The programs which will be offered in alignment with BTVI’s academic calendar will be inclusive and provide options to address each individual’s particular learning style, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and provide them the resources necessary to attain their individual goals.

We are going to change the domestic travel industry for the better and build the absolute best Aviation Training and retraining Program in the region by meeting the following mission objectives:


1. SU will produce the best educated and safest pilots, trained technical employees and superior customer-focused agents.


2. The program will be easily accessible to students everywhere – so that EVERY candidate has the opportunity to get an

extraordinary education in aviation, and exposure to the best practices in aviation.


3. The platform will be dynamic enough to allow real interaction and collaboration amongst Educators, Ground instructors, Flight instructors, Training Instructors and Students/participants.


4. The solution will provide coordination between education in the classroom and on-site practical training.


5. The company foundation is built on Honesty, Integrity and with the best interest of the student and the industry as the primary goal.

6. The technology will be robust enough to allow students, employees and instructors everywhere multiple avenues to share, implement, and test knowledge.


7. The curriculum will be diverse enough in life skill fundamentals and the necessary tools to carry the student through their career and future life choices.


8. The team will be committed to learning new skills in order to provide redundancy and alternatives in tools, processes, and methods to accommodate each learning model.


9. Programs will be inclusive and provide options to address each individual’s particular learning style, recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and provide them the resources necessary to attain their individual goals.


10. The Courses will be affordable, attainable and dynamic to remove the entry barriers of Time and Money, and allow existing employees the opportunity to grow their knowledge   and skills levels.
