The BASRA (Bahamas Air Sea Rescue Association) Grand Bahama calendar began in 2002 as an annual fundraiser to assist with the operating costs of BASRA Grand Bahama – a vital non-profit community service.  The calendar quickly became a community effort supported not only by local businesses who participated by placing ads, but also by families choosing to help. The family component of the calendar is most popular as children liked seeing their photos printed on their birth date or whatever the special occasion might be.

With the rising cost of operating BASRA, just one rescue alone can cost thousands of dollars, so you can see how quickly their revenues can be depleted annually. This calendar generates enough money for BASRA to continue to do their job and protect us all. 

Your support is vital - without it, BASRA would not be able to exist.  For $100 you can put a photograph of your child, spouse, family pet (yes, even pets!) on any date (while available) in the calendar, or you can simply  say "Compliments to Basra from the Smith family…"  There are only one or two full-page ad spaces left and one ¾ page, so businesses – first come, first served.

The calendar runs this time from September 2008 to December 2009 (with bonus months), but the subsequent one will go to the regular calendar year of January to December. The calendars are given away and this gets BASRA's name out into the community, and the advertisers get exposure for their ads. The completion and distribution date for the calendar is by August for the Annual Bernie Butler BASRA Swim Marathon. Calendars are also always available at OBS Marine, Sapona Imports, and various business locations.  All those that purchase ads get several copies. Although they are free, small $5 donations for the calendars are encouraged.

Great for Anniversaries,  or Birthdays.  Please assist in this important and worthwhile cause and buy a date this year on the BASRA Calendar! Any donations are appreciated.
