Freeport, The Bahamas - The Red Rose Ball Committee is pleased to officially announce our special guest speaker for this years Red Rose Ball Hydeia Broadbent, International HIV/AIDS Activist. The Ball is slated for Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at the Grand Ballroom, Grand Lucayan Resort.
The committee thought it would be a good choice to have Hydeia as a speaker to continue to heighten education, awareness and to share how she copes on a daily basis living with HIV/AIDS.
Hydeia Broadbent was born with HIV in the ’80s, and by the time she was 6 years old, she’d already become a well-known activist and public speaker. Over the years, this former Oprah Show guest has inspired millions, including NBA legend Magic Johnson.
Born HIV-positive, doctors originally told Hydeia Broadbent’s adoptive parents that she wouldn’t live past the age of 5. Yet in 1996, the 11-year-old activist was already speaking publicly about her disease .
Today, Hydeia is a distinguished international, motivational speaker and HIV/AIDS activist with a mission to educate people of all ages. She has an innate ability to bond with any audience. When addressing the public about the issues of HIV/AIDS, her primary goal is to provide a clear understanding of how to avoid at-risk behaviors through self-examination and informed decision-making. She echo the sentiments “...with all that we know about the virus, it is clear to me that contracting HIV/AIDS today is a choice and we can’t allow anyone the power to make that choice for us!”

The Red Rose Ball Committee will host a magnificent black-tie Charity event, themed: " A Journey to Morocco" which will be held on November 7th, 2015 in a continued collaborative effort with our Partners whom have taken a stand in helping us in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Grand Bahama.
The Grand Lucayan Resort is the ideal scene for this year’s Grand Ball. This amazing facility and Staff along with the Red Rose Ball Committee members will establish the perfect ambiance taking you directly into Morocco for this unique up-scale event.
Only a month and a few weeks before the event, the reality and excitement is now kicking in and the Public at large is really calling in to reserve their seats for this year’s ball. This Charity Event is usually attended by most of Freeport’s Business Professionals and regular supporters from the United States and the family islands in a black-tie Affair at the Grand Lucayan Resort. Cocktails will begin at 7:00p.m. and dinner promptly at 8:00p.m. Valet Parking will be available for a minimal cost for attendees.
