Nassau, Bahamas - Kingdor National Parkinson Foundation is pleased to announce that its Sixth Annual Speech Competition was a resounding success.

The event was held at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, #1 Bay Street on Sunday, November 27, 2016. The topics were both thought provoking and timely, “Parkinsonians: People Who Move Change The World” and “Unite In The Fight Against Parkinson’s Disease”, for the junior and senior high students respectively. Despite the interruptions by Hurricane Matthew, that disrupted the organization's contacts with the schools and students, there were still approximately thirty students who entered the competition for the junior and senior divisions from both public and private schools. Twelve students were elevated from the preliminary round to the finals, six juniors and six seniors. It was difficult for the judges even at that stage because the students were extremely great.

The Foundation introduced the competitions to encourage students to become better individuals, better communicators, and learn more about Parkinson’s Disease. By extension, students parents, teachers and the general populace who

consisted of the audience had the opportunity to learn more about the condition. The event was recorded and will be shared with the larger society, via Cable Bahamas and Jones Communications.

Over the last six years, there were over 300 hundred students impacted as a result of the organization’s initiative, in conjunction with Toastmasters Club 1600 and their affiliate clubs.

We strongly feel that competitions are excellent means of harnessing ones skills and are seen at every segment of our lives.

3rd place Trevanna Rolle Temple Christian School

1st place Keandra Munroe Temple Christian School
